Charter Warranty was founded in 1999 in Wixom, Michigan as an Administrator specializing in automotive-related warranties and was the first ever ISO certified Warranty Administrator in North America. Charter focused on dealership needs and their interest to drive increased profitability within the dealership by providing innovative dealer products. This broad menu of products enhance the Dealer's ability to increase customer satisfaction, maintain customer loyalty, leverage sales, service, and revenue opportunities.

Charter is one of the largest F&I product providers with their various warranties in the United States. GM was the first OEM company to offer Charter's private-label warranty.
